Free Beacon: University Used Taxpayer Funding to Buy Snuggies

Taxpayer Dollars Fund SnuggiesThe Office of Inspector General of the National Science Foundation (NSF) recently audited the University of Washington’s $296 million in sponsored agreements with the NSF. The audit identified $8,821 in unallowable items and gifts, like canvas bags, pottery, and personalized snuggies. In addition, the university spent over $23,000 on trips to Hawaii. “The University of Washington said the spending was necessary for research, while the Inspector General found a  “lack of adequate support for trip expenses,” reports the Free Beacon.
